President Suyeong Yu of Korea Credit Information Services (KCIS) has sent a formal letter to Dr. Xinhai Liu, Chief Credit Expert of the China Mergers & Acquisitions Association (CMAA) and Vice President of Beijing Credit Society, expressing appreciation for his congratulatory message on the occasion of the President’s appointment and reaffirming the importance of continued exchanges between KCIS and the Professional Committee of Credit Management (PCCM).
In the letter, President Yu acknowledged the longstanding and constructive relationship between KCIS and PCCM, and expressed appreciation for the repeated visits by PCCM representatives to KCIS in Seoul. President Yu also highlighted the growing opportunities for cooperation as artificial intelligence and data technologies continue to transform the credit and financial sectors.
The letter specifically identified credit information, financial data, and artificial intelligence (AI) as important areas for continued dialogue and potential collaboration.
KCIS: An Important Pillar of Korea’s Financial Credit Information Infrastructure
Established in 2016, Korea Credit Information Services (KCIS) serves as Korea’s public credit registry and plays an important role in the country’s financial credit information infrastructure.
Beyond the collection and management of credit information, KCIS has expanded its activities into technology credit information, insurance-related credit information, financial data services, MyData, and data-driven financial innovation.
Its development offers valuable insights into the evolution of public credit information infrastructure, the relationship between public and private credit information institutions, and the use of data to support financial innovation.
A Continuing Relationship Built Through Professional Exchanges
PCCM and KCIS have maintained professional exchanges over several years, with multiple visits to KCIS in Seoul.
Among these exchanges, Dr. Xinhai Liu and colleagues visited KCIS in May 2024 and again on June 10, 2026. The discussions brought together experts from China and Korea to exchange perspectives on developments in credit information systems, financial MyData, public MyData, technology credit assessment, financial data infrastructure, and the application of artificial intelligence in credit services.
During the June 2026 visit, the delegation engaged with KCIS leadership and experts, including former KCIS President Dr. Choi You-sam and Dr. Jeon Pil Soo, General Manager of the International Business Division, as well as representatives from relevant business and technical departments.
These exchanges provided an opportunity to better understand Korea’s institutional arrangements, operational practices, and technological developments in credit information and financial data services.
They also helped identify areas where Chinese and Korean experts and institutions could share experience and explore future cooperation.

Exploring New Opportunities in the Age of AI and Data
The recent correspondence comes at a time when artificial intelligence and data technologies are reshaping credit management, financial services, and information infrastructure worldwide.
Building on the existing relationship, PCCM sees several promising areas for further China–Korea dialogue:
- Credit Information Infrastructure: Comparative research on public credit registries, market-based credit information institutions, data-sharing frameworks, and institutional governance.
- AI and Credit Technology: Exchange of experience in AI-powered credit assessment, risk analytics, synthetic data, model evaluation, and responsible AI applications.
- Financial Data and MyData: Research on personal data authorization, data portability, financial data governance, and consumer data rights.
- Technology and SME Credit: Cooperation in technology credit assessment, enterprise credit information, and innovative financing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Cross-border Credit Cooperation: Exploring opportunities for international credit services, business credit assessment, and information exchange to support trade and investment between China and Korea.
These areas represent potential directions for future dialogue and research. Further discussions will be needed to identify specific opportunities and practical cooperation arrangements.
Looking Ahead
International exchange and knowledge sharing are increasingly important as credit systems evolve beyond traditional information collection and reporting towards broader data ecosystems powered by artificial intelligence.
Korea’s experience in public credit information infrastructure, financial MyData, technology credit assessment, and financial data services provides valuable perspectives for international research and discussion.
PCCM will continue to strengthen its international engagement, connect experts and institutions, and promote research and cooperation in credit management, financial data, AI, and cross-border credit services.
The latest correspondence from President Yu represents a positive continuation of the relationship between KCIS and PCCM. Both sides look forward to maintaining close communication and exploring new opportunities to advance cooperation in credit and AI.
